Correlation between Mendeley readers of Satoshi's white paper and Bitcoin price?
Working at Mendeley gave me access to fascinating readership data. This overlay of academic reader growth for the Bitcoin white paper against BTC price was one of those moments where you realise academic attention often precedes (or at least mirrors) market movements. The readers-over-time graph tells a story: a steady trickle of academic curiosity through the early years, then a surge that tracks almost perfectly with the 2017 boom. Whether the reading caused the buying or the buying caused the reading, I'll leave to the philosophers.
